It is the search for a perspective and a direction in life that drives the queer German-Iranian Mina Richman to music early on. Born in Berlin but raised in the small town of Bad Salzuflen, she commutes between worlds and discovers treasures such as Joan as Policewoman and Nina Simone in her aunt’s CD collection. Soul and blues of the great female singer-songwriters are the godparents to her debut EP “Jaywalker” (2022), with which she was nominated as best newcomer for the PopNRW Award. Raised as a feminist by her father “by accident” – as she once put it in a “Zeit” interview – she used the famous Cher quote “Mom, I am a rich man” for her artist name.
